Steel Wheel Restoration

Simple gray finish on a basic steel trailer rim.

Often times customers have work, delivery or personal vehicles or trailers with plain factory steel wheels that are rusted, corroded and just do not look great. A quick refresh on these types of wheels will breathe new life into the vehicle. The cost of replacing the wheels, in many cases, is not worth it, but the cost strip and refinish the wheels often times will cost a fraction of the replacement cost of the wheels with the added benefit of choosing pretty much any color or finish that you like.

Our process begins with chemically stripping the paint and finish off the existing rims followed by sandblasting to remove all of the finish that the stripper did not and to provide a smooth even surface to accept powder coating. In some cases, if required, the rims can be sanded, ground or even welded to repair any road rash or pitting from excessive welding. Once they are prepped, the powder coating process can be as simple as one step with the paint of choice or it can be a combination of primer (zinc or epoxy), the base coat and even a finishing clear coat.

Here is a set of steel wheels before we began work on them. They are pitted, rusted and heavily corroded.

So if you have a set of steel rims on your vehicle or trailer that you wish to restore, give us a call and let us see how we can help you. We have many options to meet your requirements and your budget.
